Dermaroller At Home

For those of you don’t know what a dermaroller is, it’s an at home micro needing device. Micro needling is a treatment whereby needles puncture the outer epidermis of the skin causing a controlled injury. This controlled injury stimulates collagen and elastin production. In clinic, this treatment can be done on the face and body. The needle depth varies from 0.5mm to 2.5mm. The needle depth used depends on the area being treated. On the face, the skincare specialist wouldn’t go above 1.5 mm needle depth. On the body, the specialist could go all the way to 2.5mm. Welcome to our latest blog, “Dermaroller at home.”

Dermaroller Pros and Cons

We know what you’re thinking, “Why create an at home version? and is it safe?!”

First of all, yes it is 100% safe! The needles on the dermaroller are only 0.5 mm unlike the in clinic treatment.

We have also published countless blogs on how to roll safely and effectively and even provide a video tutorial on receipt of purchase of the Image A.D.S Premium dermroller. This is a service that consumers will not receive when purchasing cheap dermarollers from the likes of ebay.

You need to be careful when purchasing a dermaroller of the following:

The needles are titanium and not cheap metal.

You receive instructions with it.

The needle depth isn’t over 0.5 mm.

It’s needles to be a genuine good quality dermaroller. (There are horror stories of the needles coming from the roller and getting stuck in the person using the rollers skin.)

How to safely and effectively carry out at home micro needling:

Running upto treatment:

You cannot use any active ingredients on the skin 3 days prior, during and 3 days post treatment.

You cannot use the dermaroller if you are suffering with any of the following:

  • Active acne.
  • Eczema.
  • Active rosacea. (You can only roll over mild non active rosacea.)
  • Your skin must be totally free of cold sores for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Anything abnormal on the skin.
  • If you are unsure in anyway that your skin is suitable for treatment.

During Treatment:

You can only use a non active serum while carrying out treatment.

Take the area section by section rolling roughly 3-5 times depending on sensitivity.

Certain areas require less treatment pressure and amount of rolls. Example the bridge of the nose only requires you to roll up and down, not horizontally max 3 times with less pressure than the rest of face.

Apply your non active serum to the area before and after rolling. Ensure your serum is also not perfumed.

Ensure that an SPF is applied in the days following treatment.
