Girls with Game gets Laser Hair Removal

So why was Noelle interested in undergoing Laser hair removal?

If you’re a football lover and don’t know her, you must have been living under a rock for the past year because she is one of Ireland’s biggest football bloggers with a following of just under 50,000 followers on Instagram alone which brings us to why Noelle so badly needed Laser Hair Removal. Noelle is always posting pictures of new football boots, socks and shorts and constantly must ensure that her legs are silky smooth to be Instagram ready.

Noelle went on to tell Caroline that she was reluctant to undergo the treatment before as she had her doubts on whether she was suitable for treatment or not while in fact she is the perfect candidate as she has pale skin and dark hair.

*Remember, the laser works by picking up the pigment in your hair so the paler you skin and the darker your hair, the better your results are going to be.

Like a lot of people, Noelle also thought that you had to let your hair grow out to undergo the treatment while in fact, you need to be clean shaven.

What was so bad about shaving and waxing?

Noelle told Caroline that like a lot of us, when she continually shaves sensitive areas like her armpits, a rash develops and surprisingly that waxing just doesn’t work for. She explained that her hair grows back within 2-3 days.

The only solution for Noelle is laser hair removal and luckily, we can offer her high speed vacuum assist technology using the LightSheer DUET like we do with all of our clients and it is very safe, fast and comfortable to undergo.

What was the pain like?

Noelle gave the treatment at 1 out of 5 pain level on all areas that were treated. She said the most uncomfortable area was the back of knees but even at that she said she wouldn’t of described it as being anyway painful.

“It’s not sore at all,” Noelle Francis.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

What do I have to do for pre-appointment preparation?

inline_625_http://havanaskinclinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/thumbnail_IMG_5704-300x169.jpg

So the main way in which you prepare for treatment is by having your consultation and patch test. This is where we can assure that you are suitable for laser hair removal by checking your medical history and ensuring that no medication you’re on now will stop you from having the treatment. Some of the questions we ask at the consultation are asked again before every treatment as with medication changes we need to ensure that it is safe to go ahead with the treatment.

If you are in the middle of your course of treatment and must undergo a course of antibiotics, we will not be able to treat during this time and you will be able to continue with treatment when you finish the medication.

When you start treatment, you must ensure that every area you are having treated is clean shaven, if the area is not shaven, we are unable to treat, however if there are small areas you have missed, we will be able to go ahead with treatment tidying up the areas.

No fake tan can be present on the skin so if you are a tan lover, you need ensure that you don’t apply tan 2-3 weeks before treatment.

If you are planning a sun holiday, you must be 28 days clear of sun exposure before undergoing treatment again.

Jules Coll vs Laser Hair Removal

We’re back again with yet another blog based on the findings and experience of the one and only Caroline Hooper, certified laser specialist.

“You really shouldn’t pluck the hair as soon as you see it because you’re just going to create an army of them,” Caroline Hooper.

Weight loss vlogger, Jules Coll gave our Dundrum clinic a visit as she wanted to remove her chin hairs. The discussion herself and Caroline had was all too relatable. The two spoke in-depth about those uninvited bristles that appear on our chins every now and then and about that moment when you discover it’s there and have to remove it immediately.

If you’re like Jules and seem to find a new hair every day, this means that you’re plucking away the hairs too often and are now in fact creating an army of them.

Jules Coll chatting to Caroline about what she can expect during treatment.

Jules confused several hairs for being one thinking that the same hair was popping out to say hello but in fact your hair cycle is not that quick. If you at home feel as though, your hairs are growing every single day, you will more than likely have several hairs that are rotating. When you pluck the hair away, you’re stimulating new hairs to grow so you’re only option to end this vicious cycle is laser hair removal to remove it from the bulb.

Now, to have laser hair removal, the area must be shaven which can sound scary but It needn’t. You don’t need to go out and invest in a bottle of shaving foam and the newest Gillette 3000, extra close, baby smooth razor. All you need to do is take a razor and remove the hairs with the edge/corner. We highly advise that you watch this video before attempting to do this yourself at home. Caroline has the technique down to a T. The reason why this technique is the best is because you don’t want to remove your white hairs but if you do, its okay because we’ll be catching them with the laser also.

What can you expect to feel during treatment?

Going by Jules, she rated the pain scale as a 1 out of 5 and said she was feeling some really “unusual sensations”, she went on to describe it as a vibration and “then the odd little blast that isn’t even as sore as a pin prick.”

While undergoing the treatment, Caroline’s best advice to Jules is to “BIN THE TWEEZERS” and go elsewhere to have your eyebrows treated. When they’re not to hand, it’ll be easier to resist plucking those annoying hairs!

Now we all know that Jules is a goal getter and she most certainly is focused on the end result and is determined not to touch those annoying hairs until her next session of laser hair removal.

Your hair grows in 3 cycles so when we catch your hair at the first stage of growth we can remove the hair and we catch it on the second stage, we damage the hair causing it to become thinner and on the third stage of growth, your hair will remain the same.

So how we know that we’ve caught some of your hair on the first stage of growth??

A smell of burning hair that Caroline likes to call, “the sweet smell of success.”

How many sessions will I need???

Our CEO and director, Caroline explained to Jules that everyone is different and some people can have 5 sessions of laser hair removal and achieve a significant hair reduction while others may have 5 sessions and may not receive the same reduction but are happy with the results achieved. Others want to be left with 90% and above hair reduction meaning that they might have to have 10 sessions.

If you are hormonal and undergoing laser hair removal, you will need to have more sessions as hormones can wake up dormant hairs and make them grow again so you might need to have between 12 and 16 sessions.

The main thing to remember is that everyone is different and everyone’s hair grows in different stages. We’ve seen clients experience almost full hair removal on the armpit area after just 3 sessions.

Jules Coll asks all the important questions when it comes to Laser Hair Removal

How does laser hair removal work, is it painful?????

So, whether the treatment is painful depends on the individual as it really depends on how thick the hair is. Some areas are also more sensitive than others like the bikini area or the underarm. Caroline explained to Jules that overall the treatment isn’t too uncomfortable and in some areas, are in fact virtually pain free.

We saw blogger, Peaches & Cream compare the treatment to a massage while Caroline treated her legs while we saw Vlogger, Danielle Olivierre rate her pain scale a 4 out of 5 on her bikini area and gave her legs a 2. Some people are just more sensitive than others and if you have thick hair with a dark pigment, it’ll pinch more.

Regarding facial areas, we have a smaller hand piece that has a cooling tip so it provides contact cooling right before the laser works it magic making the treatment more comfortable. In fact, in 9 out 10 cases, clients rate their pain scales as a 1/5.
